Planting ideas in the mind…

I paid a visit to my local fruit and veggie market this morning, as we’re buying our veggies fresh each week, at lower prices than the supermarkets, for fresh unpackaged produce. The veggies were put into paper bags (not plastic) and the origins were known.

I’d asked about cherry tomatos as I could see none on display. The stallholder had been offered a good price on these from an overseas source but declined to purchase as he would rather sell local produce only.

I pointed him in Organiclinker’s direction to visit the Food Miles calculator and will check on his thoughts when I see him next week.

It seems that someone has already planted the seed in his mind about ethical sourcing and hopefully he is able to spread the message to others through his passion for fresh fruit and vegetables. However, most of his clients will already understand the benefits of buying locally, and it is the average consumer we need to reach out to.
