Here is Glenn’s bio…
Where do you look to for inspiration in todays fast paced world? I look back to my roots, firmly planted in the green outdoors of rural New Zealand.
I grew up in a small community, with a central focalpoint being a 70 acre market garden, always planted with seasonal vegetables, and surrounded by orchards growing kiwifruit, glasshouses full or tomatos and courgettes and open fields with dairy and sheep farms.
We were fairly self-sufficient, growing vegetables for the table and rearing our own animals for the freezer, fishing in the sea and collecting shellfish by hand.
You didn’t need lots of money to feed the family and you could taste the goodness in the food.Fast forward 20 years and I find myself in London, eating bland, processed food (well trying to avoid it where possible) and being surrounded by litter (its everywhere!), but doing all possible to change my immediate surroundings. We grow tomatos in our garden, we recycle, turning down plastic bags when shopping, taking an active interest in our power consumption and doing our best to educate without being invasive.
The highlight of our weekend is a trip to the farmers market, buying locally produced fruit and vegetables, along with succulent cuts of meat. We draw the line at bread, preferring to bake our own.
Renewable energy is of interest to me - given the chance I would have a wind turbine in the backyard or a wave farm
Education is the key to the future - Global warming cannot be reversed, but collectively the effects can be minimised.
