Google Harnesses The Sun
It seems as though one of the nets big trend setters is going to do its bit to reduce its carbon footprint.
Google’s Mountain View headquarters in California is getting a shiny new 1.6 megawatt solar power system. This system will feed about 30% of the “Googleplex’s” power needs and will help to cut their non renewable energy usage.
Many of the panels will be positioned in the monster sized carpark and will overhang the parking bays and act as shades. the majority though will be positioned on the roof.
Google have hired Energy Innovations to design and build the project, which should be completed next year.
If only other companies could afford such massive projects, but again it seems that Google are carving the way!
