Hello everyone,
I have just recently got in to 'forums' and followed Mike's like to here from a small biz forum. I personally have stayed off forums because I think they are counter productive, but I was just closing off today and saw this link. So a full introduction... I grow stuff. Member of soil association. Just moved house three months ago and the first thing I did was build my compost bin and put my potatoes in. I've been growing stuff for years. I do lots of walking and outdoor stuff, so the environment is pretty close to my views on the world. I do marketing. I hate seeing Eco / Organic used in the wrong way. There are some serious issues here. I support co-operatives, fair trade and all that. I was dismayed the other day when I heard about countries buying land from other countries to grow their food on. I believe in traditional values. I think western practices could do with changing a little. I hate plastics and packaging. I hate litter droppers. every piece of litter really does have an owner, I try and reconnect that piece of litter with the bugger that drops it. I have a chip on my shoulder about certain things, but love my garden, love the outdoors and want the world to stop chasing its own tail. I buy local products, love the food markets, still haven't had chance to use my bees wax from my buddy bee keeper and am making sloe gin for people at xmas handed over in the gorgeous decanters I keep finding on the shelves in charity shops. Waste, I hate waste. Also just initiated a project about marketing that raises a little money for an Environment Charity. A few said people (hope it wasn't you mike) said it sounds irresponsible. Oh one more thing. You know that little "Think before you print!" AND "Consider the environment before your print". I have put these on about 1,000 emails for small businesses. Don't know where this stuff came from originally, but I do lots of email business and they go on to almost every job. Anyway, hello. Look forward to sharing ideas and views. I am a bit iko myself.
I am a smallBiz guy that has worn many hats. I am really quite brutal when people ask those questions. I think its mainly because that's how I like feedback. Butal and honest. So, I'll say this... you've got an enjoyable journey ahead. As a business with a message I recommend you get the visual look sorted first, then get it aligned properly with your marketing message. Mike is doing a nice job here. If you look at my stuff, it is a big mess. I am running an open project, where it is supposed to look wrong at the start. Build a story and get community involvement. But, if my project was not a community thing, I would make sure everything is ready to do business. Are you ready? Do these comments help? |
