Default Clean Coal Power

One of the biggest things I noticed, is that Obama and Clinton have nearly identical plans for environmental goals. While I think the goals are a good start, I think it's too little to late. Their talking about reducing carbon emissions 80% by 2050.

I don't fully understand this concept of Cap and Trade, but it doesn't seem all that "environmental". It still allows for polluting, just as long as it's done by the highest bidder. Which makes me wonder what will happen to the smaller manufacturing plants which will be left with the costs to upgrade to reduce emissions, while the rich big manufacturing plants can pollute as much as their money can buy. Now my understanding is there is a limited number of "permits", but my question is what is the allowed "polluting" per permit, and are there any plans for reducing the number of permits, or quantity of pollution per permit? If anyone knows more about this, I would be interested to hear about it.

As for the republicans, I don't see any clear plans for environmental change, just a bunch rambling about that they will make change, but nothing about what the change will be, when it will happen, or how they will accomplish it.

Besides Huckabee suggests nuclear (which I understand both Obama and Clinton support), and clean coal for "alternative energy". Read the July Building for Health Newsletter "Environmental Impacts from Coal Generated Power". Even if we could make completely "clean" burning coal power plants, there are still many devastating environmental impacts and dangerous health hazards of mining coal. The same holds true for Nuclear Power. While there are no "emissions" from nuclear power, uranium content of ore is only .1%-.2%. All the rest is radioactive waste, and leaves behind devastated ecosystems. Does that really sound like a good alternative energy supply?...

On the topic of "clean coal" ...

> Is There Really Such a Thing As Carbon Free-Energy?

Quote:
‘Clean coal’ is a method which promotes the use of coal as an energy source by emphasizing methods being developed to reduce its environmental impact. The irony is that that there are currently no commercial-scale clean coal power stations (coal-burning power stations with carbon capture and sequestration) currently available until the year 2020 or 2025. If we’re still here by then; ref Dec 21 2012.

The real truth is that the process of ‘clean coal’ is simply the process of transferring one waste stream to another, and hiding the truth… Coal is a dirty fuel. Period.

Default Clean Coal Power

A great deal of acid rain is produced when coal is burned to produce electricity. There are ways to Clean the Coal, called Clean Coal technology, but these methods are expensive and would probably require government subsidies or new technological breakthroughs to be viable.

"Clean Coal" is a such a impressive technology to Clean and protect the environment from the dangerous pollutants coming from the Coal.:p
