Track a container around the world

Not necessarily directly related to food miles, but the BBC have fitted a container with GPS and you can track its progress aorund the world via the BBC web site at this link

As it happens it's first load is Scotch Whisky destined for the Far East, but their plan is to track it for a year to find out where global trade takes it.

So who's for hiring a speed boat and using the handly locator beacon the beeb have fitted it with to perform an act of piracy on the high seas?

This is class, although the exact co-ordinates are not being shown as the container has made a beeline across Sri Lanka according to the map.

Come on Beeb, spend a little of our tv licence money on sorting out the gps mapping overlay on Google Earth please

This really is a great idea, and it is loaded with whiskey - lets hope no sri lancan whiskey pirates are also tracking it :D
