The Indonesian government is to double the size of a national park that is one of the last havens for endangered Sumatran elephants and tigers. Tesso Nilo National Park was created in 2004 with 38,000 hectares of forest. Today’s declaration will see that figure increase to 86,000 by the end of this year.

I think this is fantastic, animals should be so much more precious than they are at the moment; we're lucky in the UK as many of us are educated by zoos and protection agencies, but in most parts of the world animal life is at the very bottom of priority lists.
I think the human race, as a collective, should be ashamed that so many animals have become extinct because of our ways and methods. |
