I have sundews and a pitcher plant - I'll get some pics for you but the sundews are only tiny babies after the huge parent plant died off this summer. Every attempt I've made at keeping venus fly traps alive has ended in a dead plant.

A couple of things I've learned though:
  • Always use rain water
  • Try to get the specialist compost - regular compost has far too much nutrient in and the carnivores live in starved conditions, this is why they "eat" insects.
  • Fly traps only snap 3-6 times and then that leaf pair dies.
  • Do Not Feed, ever.
  • Try to get to know your variety - some are hardy, some very tender.
  • Do not treat for greenfly infestation with any sort of detergent insect repellent - sundews especially hate it and it stops them grabbing flies.
Fascinating plants though, and I'd love to keep a fly trap alive one day. But I've got all distracted by an orchid I rescued....

I've found them the easiest plants to kill! I must have gone through 20 of them, I've given up. Good tips on here, perhaps I'll try....
