Can lama wool be used in bedding? What are its properties in terms of heat, moisture dispursion etc? is it treated with chemicals to clean? Also how do you collect the wool? normal shaving like a sheep i take it? lol! not familiar with lamas!! Next question is the wool very costly?

You shave them like sheep, but the wool doesn't tend to come off like a coat, more scraggly- only problem is that they are bigger than sheep, sharper (But that isn't difficult as sheep are a stupid as a rock) and have a real attitude, a good vomit/ spit is their usual response to being herded into a clipping pen.

The wool is a lot cleaner than sheep's, so it can be washed using organic products rather than needing something more industrial/unsustainable. However a 'spot on' type treatment is usually used to keep down parasites, mild infrequent treatments are allowed under organic rules.

It is a real beautiful wool, so would be a shame to use them as a bedding material.
