We all should encourage the use of natural and environment friendly objects at our homes and other places. Let’s stop using products that are harmful and work towards a greener and healthier environment.

Have you ever tried using soap nuts for your laundry? I've never tried them, but I hear they work well and are safer for the environment. Thoughts?

I have been using soapnuts for over a year, heard about them and thought I must give these a try, as we wanted to be a chemical free household. They are absolutely amazing and fantastic, I just washed a pair of shorts that had red wine on them (and that was only my first glass :) ) popped them into the washing machine as normal with the small bag of soapnuts and they came out and the stain was gone, now I'm sure that if you used chemical powders then even they would have trouble removing that type of stain.
I will never go back to chemical powders, 1. for the environment and 2. they are a major saving, you can pay anywhere from £5 to £10 for about 24 washes in supermarkets for brand powders and soapnuts range from £10 to £16 depending on where you look and can last for about 100+ washes so you can be good to the earth and save money as well.

I've also used soap nuts a few times. I like them alot. The only thing that I didn't like, at least at first, was that they didn't create a lather. Once I got used to that, it was cool. Here's a good post explaining Soap Nuts - http://www.ghchealth.com/natural-health/soap-nuts/ Give them a shot.

I was introduced to soap nuts several months ago. Soap nuts lead the way to greener ways to clean. If you’re looking for a good green detergent for that new HE washer, or something eco-friendly for that old Maytag, They're a must. They're the purest "TRULY" natural detergent available. Soap nuts can change our lives.

We use soap nuts and they are excellent for sensitive skin and excema sufferers, a few of us in my family have it and soap nuts are the only things we can use. Also, they are a great opener for eco chat as they look so strange, gets everyone laughing at get togethers and lots of people go home with a few lol
