The government has set up a project called Cabled to trail the electric car in the UK. As we are keen on electric cars we decided to sign up and see what the options were. We were offered a test drive on the Mitsubishi iMiEV a couple of months ago, we went along with an open mind as we had not decided whether it was the right thing to do as the cost is £350 per month and we already own a G-Wiz.
We were really surprised at the performance of the car with a top speed of 81MPH and a range of 100 miles. The car seats 4 adults and is even a 5 door. We decided to go ahead with the trail.
The only journeys we are not planning to use the iMiev for are very long distance and holidays as we will be towing a caravan. We are planning to use the 2 electric cars on an everday basis, I will use the iMiEV for the school run, taking the kids around, shopping and my husband will use the G-Wiz for work and short journeys.
The car is now in the country and a induction has been arranged for early next week. We collect the car on Saturday 12th December from Birmingham city centre.
We have started a blog on the
Mitsubishi Electric Car which will be updated on a regular basis about our everyday use, charging habits and how we find the car.
